When mainstream media is becoming so unprofessional, are blogs serving a better role than it?

In the linked post (which Top Indian Blogs has shared on their blog), I have tried to analyze how blogs fit the definition of mass media.

At one time, when blogs were the main social media entities and we had not seen the stupendous growth of Facebook, etc, it was being stated that blog would soon make newspapers redundant. That did not happen, and all forms of mass communication learnt to live with each other. All the mainstream media (including print media, television, radio and books) now try to make a synergy with digital and online media - and blogs are one of them.

When we talk of blogs in a narrow sense, they look very unassuming - especially personal blogs. However, blogging in a broad sense (its latest definition seems to include all types of web publishing) is very powerful. It is a strong medium of expression and has an important place in web activism, content marketing and earning money.
